If you want a better choice of restaurants and shops close by I would recommend Mount Maunganui just the other side of the water a lot more going on here in the evenings and more choice of good restaurants

Good roads, easy to get around (no problems using gps maps) Saturday markets, fresh seafood, close to shopping centre. Our function was catered and the food was amazing. Short walk for evening swim at the beach. Close to other townships eg: Katikati.

The CBD seems alright, can be explored on foot.

The CBD seems alright, can be explored on foot. The highlight of our trip was Mt Maunganui. The Mount Hotpools was wonderful (pricey though), beautiful tiles, water and view. And the stretch of the Maunganui beach was just beautiful. We picked one far away from the centre (and towards Papamoa) where there was lifeguard, and truly enjoyed the waves for hours. It a great place for families who love spending time in the open water.

It is a travel destination that I definitely want to visit at least once a year. I would like to recommend that you climb Mount Manganui and take a hot spring bath in the salt springs. I can't forget the size and taste of Copenhagen ice cream across from the salt springs. Playing in the water or walking on the beach are healing points that cannot be missed. Cost-effectiveness of accommodation is one of the most disappointing aspects of most travel destinations.

Beautiful looking place, great climate, but a lot of blatant racism. Lots of indigenous artwork around city was vandalised. A lot of scowls from people when speaking re reo Māori (even with basic greetings).

There are plenty of bars and places to eat, the city is pleasant enough although access to the harbour is limited and the whole place is overshadowed by its proximity to Mt Maunganui and its fabulous beaches.

The host was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very tidy and warm. The bathroom was very tidy and shower has good pressure. The place was very convenient for us and close to my family. Good and safe carpark for our car. It was the second time we stayed here and the best out of the other motels we stayed with previously in Tauranga. We will definitely go back again when we visit family. Will recommend to relations and friends,

Erika and Marco are a lovely couple and were so hospitable and helpful in planning our time in Tauranga. Erika’s attention to details is evident from the books, filtered water and a fully stocked bathroom. There is a table with two chairs in the front yard in the middle of the beautiful flower garden. We highly recommend Marco and Erika’s to anyone looking for a tranquil place to stay.

Although the town itself felt really deserted and quiet, the room we stayed in was absolutely huge and had wonderful air conditioning which was very much needed during the cold Tauranga nights. The washing machine was also a fantastic addition which we were very grateful for! The whole property felt exceptionally clean and the bathroom felt brand new, we enjoyed our stay here.

Host Shawn was very friendly and responsive. The guest Handbook in the unit was very helpful in terms of where to eat and what to see around Tauranga. The breakfast provided was all good, including milk, cereals, yogurts, spread, fruits, coffee and tea and etc.. It really feels like home. My 18 months old enjoy walking around and exploring the house.

The unit we had was well maintained and comfortable. It was only a few minutes walk down to the waterfront and close to some good restaurants. It was quiet and had parking at the door. The staff were obliging and friendly and steered us in the right direction to find the good mall shopping at Tauranga Crossing.

The hotel was perfect and just what we were hoping, Amazing historic building and a tidy modern and clean room. All staff were excellent. The NZ cuisine restaurant was the best, possibly the best in Tauranga, breakfast was equally amazing. Can't fault the Clarence, we are looking forward to our next stay.

The bed was lovely - I really need to get myself a new bed at home. I loved the cleanliness and ease of the room and bathroom and toilet. Very private and quiet. I was in Tauranga for the the ANZEG National Embroidery School and it was perfect for my needs - close to the venue and to the centre of town.
