The Lily of the Lake
Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.
A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.
More legends envelop the Ring of Kerry – a scenic drive starting from Killarney and supposedly the last place to spot a leprechaun. Gushing Torc waterfall is just one of its fantastic sights.
In Killarney itself, horse-drawn carts roam narrow streets whose Irish pubs offer great nightlife. Impressive St Mary’s Cathedral has a towering spire and somewhat dark interior. The local gaelic football team play at Fitzgerald Stadium, and more sports can be enjoyed at Killarney riding stables and the nearby golf and fishing club. There is also a popular racecourse.

Beautiful enchanting clean community. All the magic of fairytale Ireland. 1.5 days to squeeze everything in. Great shopping. Loved Muckross Craft store, dining, National Park, gift stores, quality of food, Ross Castle a must tour. Walked past swampy bogs, and downtown streets. As horse owners we were uncomfortable with the horse drawn carriages. Need at least 1 month to see and do! Great gateway to Ring of Kerry, Conor Pass, Kenmare. Hotel beautiful perfect. My wife who always traveled with me died earlier this year of MND Disease and I was visiting all the places we you to stay on our trips. As I have already said the parking ticket I got for parking in what I was led to believe was a disabled zone has put a very bad taste in my mouth. I would have to think seriously about visiting Killarney again.

There is so much to do in and around Killarney that your stay will not be long enough ! While some Hotels and Rental properties would seem to be somewhat expensive you can also find some which are really good value and of a good standard if you do the research !BridIreland - 6.0Scored 6.0
We were very disappointed that the Killarney National Park...
We were very disappointed that the Killarney National Park visitor center and Ross Castle weren’t open and especially that there was no acknowledgement of that on their website. That was our main reason to visit Killarney. Understandable about due to weather, but the visitor center was due to renovations.

Place is nice and quiet.
Place is nice and quiet. Holiday feeling as soon as we arrived. Host was excellent. Rooms- spotless. Kitchen- all you need for self catering is there. Town is nearby. Torc Waterfall and Mucross House are nearby. Highly recommend the place 👌👌AAnonymous - 8.0Scored 8.0

We had a great time. Went to a Fureys concert, did the Ring of Kerry, visited the Tralee museum, had a super Indian meal, the Guinness was super. It's my 8th visit to Killarney. I'm finding the prices are getting much higher in town.

The hotel had a fabulous bar and several fantastic restaurants. We has several outstanding meals there. The town itself was among my favorites on our drive around the perimeter of Ireland, during which we stopped at 8 or 9 different towns/hotels. Be sure to visit Muckross House and take the Jaunty horse/carriage ride. It's worth the price. Oh, bonus! There's a little outdoor laundry mat next door to the hotel.
